Entry Requirements

Learners must be at least 16 years old to undertake this qualification.

There are no specific prior knowledge or qualification requirements. However, learners may find it helpful to have previously completed a Level 2 qualification or have relevant experience in an early years setting.

The course is particularly suitable for:

• Level 3 early years practitioners
• Practitioners currently carrying out SENCo responsibilities

A work or industry placement is not required to complete the qualification.

Assessment Method

The qualification is assessed through a portfolio of evidence.

Learners will complete activities and produce evidence demonstrating their understanding of the Early Years SENCo role and the strategies used to support children and families.

The portfolio is internally assessed by the approved centre and externally quality assured by NCFE. Learners must successfully achieve both mandatory units to receive the qualification.

Progression Route
